Thailand’s Blood Timber

Al Jazeera recently aired a documentary on illegal rosewood logging on the Cambodia border that I highly recommend. I highlighted this topic back in 2012 because I like hiking the border area. If you hike to Phu Hin Dang they actually require that you have an armed escort. Usually you hear about logging mostly in Ubon and Sisaket but as the map below shows there are other places it can be found. I couldn’t figure out where Al Jazeera was filming but they found tiger tracks so most likely it was in southern Buriram near Thap Lan National Park where there are known to be tigers. Park staff in Ubon & Sisaket say there may be a couple tigers in that area but they haven’t been seen for years. For further reading visit here.
